sharing the journey

Welcome to Red Stick Astro.  I’m Sean Molony,  astrophotographer and enthusiast of the night skies.  Here you will find my Deep Space Astrophotography Images which are shot primarily with  narrowband filters and various telescopes.

Red Stick Astro produces astrophotography video tutorials for the purpose of sharing my workflow, helping newcomers hone their skills and ease the learning curve of astrophotoagraphy.  I use Sequence Generator Pro for my image capture and process my images utilizing Pixinsight and Adobe Photoshop.

Enjoy sharing my experiences with time lapse photography using a standard DSLR camera mounted on an Ioptron Sky Guider Pro and utilizing the Williams Optics Redcat, along with several wide angle lenses.

Thanks for stopping by, feel free to contact me and ask questions.  I to am a work in process and happy to help you in any way I can.

Why Red Stick Astro?

When the French first traveled into the Louisiana Territory they discovered several trees and poles that had been painted red in order for the Indians to mark their burial sites.  Upon finding theses markers the French called them Baton Rouge which means Red Stick.  Actually its backwards (Stick Red).  Anyway that is where the capital of Louisiana gets its name.  So Red Stick Astro!
