I am getting the Atlas mount Hypertuned. It has been out all summer this year ( under the 365 cover)  and last time I tried to balance the scope it was so stiff it would hardly move. I am lucky as the place is about 3 miles from my house so no shipping costs and no shipping damage. I have the STF8300 on the SV70T and going to try some widefield shots.

If you’re talking about Ed Thomas, he does a great job and has been doing it for a long time. Your mount should come back better than new.

You know I was wondering if my NEQ6 could be suffering a little since I switched to the Losmandy.  It’s just sitting in my house in AC so it’s not like its in the garage or anything.  But not using it scares me that it may stiffen up.

I just picked up my Atlas mount from Ed at Deep Sky Products. I was going to get a second Cem60 as you know but things happen and it did not. So I got my Atlas mount hypertuned. The CEM60 is in the observatory and the Atlas is outside on a pier. It was out all summer under a Telegizmo 365 cover but with 110° for the summer it was COOKED. Last time I used it it was so stiff when you tried to balance it it would not hardly move.

Well now both axis’ spin like tops. Of course It is still considered a purchase so the clouds are here and it will be a day or so but I cannot wait to try it out.
